Overview

ViaPath is currently looking for a Sales Engineer (SE) to join our growing team. The SE will partner with the business development team to drive new business and revenue growth by providing technical expertise, competitive positioning, and product solutioning to current and prospective customers.

This is a remote based position with a requirement to travel up to 50-75% of the time. Position can be based anywhere in the US located near an airport to meet the travel requirements for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-Sales Support
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of ViaPath’s complete product suite
    • Actively participate onsite at industry trade shows
    • Collaborate with Account Executives to assess and address customers’ technical and business requirements
    • Prepare and deliver customized product demonstrations to both technical and non-technical audiences to support and influence purchasing decisions
  • Technical Demonstrations
    • Review the most recent business case and proposal prior to demonstration preparation to ensure accurate representation of proposed products and services
    • Identify solutions for inclusion in presentations, ensuring all demo hardware and software comply with the customer requirements and the ViaPath proposal
    • Develop a detailed demonstration script, clearly assigning roles (e.g., lead presenter, technical operator, Q&A facilitator, follow-up note taker)
    • Work closely with the Account Executive to create the presentation and supporting content utilizing the latest demo template
    • Conduct a thorough review of the demonstration flow with the team before the event to ensure consistency, coherence, and smooth execution
    • Review contingency plans to address technical difficulties, time constraints, or unanticipated Q&A
    • Assist in the creation of presentation materials, including slide decks and handouts
  • Sales Support
    • Assist with the preparation of responses for proposals
    • Analyze competitor proposals to better understand the competitive landscape
    • Collect and distribute competitive intelligence to relevant internal stakeholders
    • Review financial, contractual, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with customer needs, solutions, and pricing.
    • Facilitate internal approval processes and ensure documentation is properly maintained in Salesforce
    • Serve as a trusted advisor by establishing strong technical credibility with customers.
    • Clearly communicate complex technical concepts through solution-oriented messaging.
    • Gather and share customer feedback and market insights to foster continual improvement of products and processes.
    • Conduct training sessions on products for both internal and external customers

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent years of related experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • 2-5 years of experience working with corrections communications systems, surveillance systems, facility management systems (JMS), or security platforms; experience with ViaPath products preferred.
  • Ability to creatively apply technology solutions to customer-specific business requirements.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, time management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to deliver effective product demonstrations of software and hardware solutions to any size audience with any level to technical experience. Background of training prison or jail staff is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of prison and jail operations, security priorities, and technology limitations. Ability to position technical solutions to align with facility-specific needs.
  • Ability to keep the audience engaged throughout a technical presentation that may last up to eight hours (though usually two hours or less).
  • Ability to adapt to an audience and think on your feet in a fast-paced and diverse environment (technical, administrative, investigators, finance, etc.).
  • This remote position requires the ability and willingness to travel 50-75% of the time.  Must be located near an airport to meet the travel requirement.
